I’ve decided to start up a little diary of my progress for my game, although I’ve decided to keep it hidden for a while so I don’t disapoint anyone when it doesn’t get finished.
After about a week of work, the game is now at a playable state, I’ve only just added 1 frame sprites for the pirates and everything else is still a placeholder, but the game itself is a challenge, which you can lose at.
I still have a huge todo list of things to add and I’m currently unsure of how to move on. My most likely next move is to add the interface around the screen so I can work on limiting energies and so on. I want to tighten everything up, enemies and graphics-wise before sorting out the last two elements. Fireballs and Ice Shards are working great, but they’re the simple ones. I’ll still need to add fancy effects for each enemies reaction and that could cause some interesting programming algorithms to have to work out.
Each thing on the todo list is almost exclusive, so it’s quite fun still being able to take a pen, close my eyes and pick something at random to work on. I get the feeling I’ll regret this later, but at least I’m leaving notes for myself for the things that aren’t quite perfect.
